Avoid Burnout

It’s easy to ignore your own needs while focusing on your work, your career, or someone else. If you neglect self-care, you might get results in the short-run, but you’ll sacrifice quality (and your well-being) in the long-run.

Our mode of life today—constant stress, poor diet, lack of exercise and sleep—leads to what scientists call exhaustion syndrome. The rest of us call it burnout. We continually push through each day, postponing the renewal time our brains and bodies need. The mantra is "Work like crazy, then crash." It even becomes a badge of honor to brag, "Our team was up until midnight." In the end, this pattern is impacting our productivity.

By contrast, extraordinarily productive people consistently recharge. They have a more constant feeling of energy and capability throughout the day. Because they have a Q2 mentality around this, they maintain a regular flow and fuel to the mind and body.

For you to function at your highest capabilities, you need to make time to manage your stress, get enough sleep, and eat properly. This might take some adjustments–especially if you are used to burnout–but as you make time to take care of yourself, you will see incredible results.
