Setting goals like "Break last year's record" is fine, but leaves a lot to be desired.
How much do you want to break it by? And by when? When setting goals, it is vital to make them as detailed and focused as possible. That way you have more direction when attempting to achieve it. Use the X to Y by When formula to truly refine your goals. X is the starting point, Y is where you want to be, and by When is how long you are giving yourself to achieve that goal. Try it yourself!
